Romel and I just came back from an awesome weekend in Washington! We headed down on Friday afternoon and arrived home late last night – approximately 4 days. The main purpose of our trip (or well, Romel’s main purpose) was to go to the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) which is a gaming festival held at the Washington Convention Center. As such, I was expecting to spend the weekend surrounded by thousands of Romels, lining up to play video games, and collecting “swag”. Don’t get me wrong, that was a huge part of our weekend. But, unlike what many people have warned me about traveling with your significant other, we were able to balance between what he wanted to do and what I wanted to do, which was explore PAX and… the outside world. I’ve been across the border so many times, but this was the first time I really explored downtown Seattle. I’d love to write about everything we did, but that would probably bore you all to death. Instead, I’ll just highlight my favorite places and favorite moments!
PAX was an eye-opening experience. It was so interesting to see into Romel’s world. I was able to try a couple of upcoming games and consoles, collect a lot of lanyards and bags, and watch some trailers for upcoming games! I don’t play video games myself but after this weekend, I’m really excited for Assassin’s Creed 4 and Watchdogs. Just check at out how excited this cutie was to be here!
We did a lot of eating during this trip… and I mean A LOT of eating. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten this much in one weekend in my entire life. From breakfast at C.J.’s eatery to a feast lunch at the Crabpot to trying Southcenter’s Jollibee for the first time to all of Tom Douglas’ awesome dining locations, it is really hard to name just one place as my favourite!
Biscuits and Gravy from C.J.’s Eatery
Traditional Eggs Benedict from Cedar’s Restaurant
Chickenjoy, Spaghetti, Fiesta Noodles, Cheese Fries, Halo-Halo and Peach Mango Pie from Jollibee
Yummy Croissants from Le Panier
If you know me well, I definitely have a sweet tooth! I love ice cream and I love pastries! But I definitely found love at Pike Place. We had the most delicious desert (which Romel and I shared for lunch)… lemon cheesecake and mulberry pie yogurt! It was so refreshing and just perfect on a hot day.

Pike’s Place had the most beautiful selection of fresh cut flowers. More importantly, they had my favourite – sunflowers! I picked up lovely bouquet for my aunt’s home and picked up a single sunflower for myself, named Schubert (Yes, I name my sunflowers…) My mom actually warned me that I might not be able to take flowers across the border, which is why I purchased a single flower instead of a bouquet. When Romel and I got to the border, I asked the officer if I would be able to take it over and he said yes. As soon as we crossed, Romel’s first words was, “Schubert lives!”. I love how were both overjoyed over something so silly.
Meet Schubert!!!
Pike Place – my favorite spot in Seattle!
Sunday night, we stayed at the Tulalip Resort and Casino. I tried the slot machines for the first time! It was actually the first time I’ve ever gambled… and it will also probably be my last! I lost $3 in 1 minute. Romel and I just grabbed some drinks and french fries, then headed to the dance floor where a local DJ was spinning. We relaxed our dancing legs in the jacuzzi and then called it a night! Here are a couple of silly photos of the love of my life and I. Thank you for an awesome weekend!
