It is the sad truth, but, in the past twenty-two years of my life, I’ve never really cooked a real meal. I’ve been spoiled by my ma & pa with their wonderful cooking and I’ve never really had to cook something for myself, other than egg and rice. So, the thought of coming to San Francisco with Romel and I having little to no cooking skills had me thinking that we’d be eating take out everyday. Fortunately, my parent’s cooking skills rubbed off on me just a little and surprisingly enough, I actually enjoy it. It’s probably the chemist in me that loves to measure things out, put things together, boil things like crazy, and watch in amazement as these materials synthesize into the final product. The plus, of course, is that the ingredients smell much nicer than the chemicals in the laboratory.
So far, I have attempted to make Chicken Pesto Pasta with Fresh Kale Salad, Pork Tonkatsu & Baked Vegetable Tempura, and Chicken Souvlaki with Greek Salad. I also made some Filipino Chicken Adobo and although it was tasty, it doesn’t photograph as well. I’ve simply been finding some easy meals on Pinterest and attempting to create them in our kitchen. The real difficulty here in San Francisco is finding all the ingredients… The closest grocery we live near is Trader Joe’s, which I absolutely adore but is definitely a little on the expensive side. Hopefully, as we become more familiar with the area, we’ll be able to find some more grocery options!
If you know any delicious & simple recipes, let me know! I would definitely love to try it!
