It’s been quite some time since we made one of these ‘Main StrEATS’ posts – but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been nomming on some of our neighbourhood’s delicious offerings. We’ve definitely trialled a few more places along Main St. (especially for takeout!) throughout the pregnancy – from pizza at Ignite to shawarma plates at Mitra Canteen.

Last Saturday, however, we decided to go on a little dinner date at Fable Diner as I was craving a burger and Romel was hungry for some crispy fries. The restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of diner booths and bar seats!  It was like we were at a modern day Pop’s in Riverdale. There were cute little decor items throughout and Roms obvs made me pose with this random geometric chicken.

Fable diner is known for their delicious milkshakes! Much so that there were a couple of customers who simply came in just to enjoy one. We decided to share the Chocolate Peanut Butter shake with Nutella + Pretzel frosting. It was seriously delicious – the perfect combination of sweet and salty!

Romel decided to go with the fried chicken sandwich with french fries. The sandwich was dressed with ranch, pickled jalapeños, hot sauce powder, and cheese! I had a bite of the chicken and it was so crispy + delicious!

For myself, I had the Reno’s burger and a side of the house salad. I had my beef patty cooked well-done instead of medium well and without the Fable sauce (because it has raw egg). The burger itself was simple and good, but nothing to shout about. However, I really enjoyed the fresh mix of greens and salad dressing!

Overall, it was a decent meal and we even got $5 off our bill for paying using a new app called Glance Pay, which is advertised in the restaurant. The app was actually quick and easy to sign up and then pay using your phone by taking a photo of your bill. Next time, we’ll have to come back to try their breakfast and brunch items – the french toast and the roast duck pancake sound amazing!
