Jenn: Cut It Out
July 26, 2013

Today marks the last day of our sewing lessons. Four weeks ago, Romel and I enrolled into a Beginner’s Sewing Class with the Vancouver School Board. It included 8 two and a half hour sessions, twice a week, for four weeks. The structure of the class was very laid back and our instructor, MaryAn, was both helpful and knowledgeable. Our first project was a tote bag, of which a pattern was provided, and our second project was a pair of pajama pants (see below!). The tote bag was really fun to make and I use mine almost everyday (it’s so sturdy!). The pajama pants were tedioius to make but I felt like I learned a lot more techniques with this pattern. For the final week, we were able to work on anything we’d like. I chose a asymmetrical wrap skirt which I will show you all soon!

That being said, I’d say that this class is only really useful if you have a lot of questions and if you don’t feel like learning on your own (like me!). Part of the reason why I liked the class is just because it allowed me to make time to actually learn how to sew. Overall, I thought it was a fun course and I would recommend it if you want to take up sewing! I’m really excited now to try some new patterns and have a list of DIY projects I want to get started on soon, so stay tuned!

With Romel busy away at work, I’ve recruited my little brother to take my photos. Here’s a couple of shots we took a few days ago. I love these cute cut-out booties I picked up from Urban Outfitters. They are adorable and a steal on sale for $20.
