Main Streats: Fish Counter
June 24, 2018

One of our favourite shows to watch together, as you may already know, is MasterChef! The dangers of watching this show (at least for me) is that I always end up wanting to eat whatever they cook… I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. On the most recent episode, one of the teams were responsible for making fish and chips and so we obviously had to go for fish and chips the following day!

As we’re nearing the due date, we’ve been walking quite a bit to get the labour moving along. The motivating factor for these long walks is knowing that our goal is somewhere where they serve delicious food and/or treats. Today’s goal was the Fish Counter for those crispy fish and chips.

The Fish Counter is an order first then pick up your food after type of restaurant. They have a large menu posted near the entrance displaying the different types of fish! They also have a variety of sandwiches, salads and soups to choose from. Seating is a bit limited with a few spots inside if you’re lucky and a small bench out front where Simcoe was waiting patiently.

Everything is cooked before you to ensure that your meal is fresh and crispy for pick up! We ended up getting 2 pieces of pacific cod + fried oysters (as per Romel’s request). The fish and chips comes with an abundance of french fries and a yummy celery slaw. We found the fish itself to be on the larger side and even got a surprise third bonus fish (thank you!).

Overall, I would definitely recommend getting one order to share either with 2 or 3 pieces of fish like we did! You get so much fries and slaw that we weren’t even able to finish it. Simcoe did offer to help us multiple times – but he was stuck with his bacon + apple treats, sorry Sim!
